How far in advance should I book?

We encourage booking ahead when possible, especially for evenings and weekends, as those times tend to fill quickly.

You’re also welcome to join the waitlist to receive notifications if any cancellations or openings become available.

Before, During & After Your Massage

How should I prepare for my appointment?

Before your massage, you’re welcome to enjoy a warm shower or bath to help gently relax your muscles and ease your body into a more open, receptive state. It’s a simple way to begin unwinding before your session even starts.

We also kindly ask that you avoid wearing strong fragrances, perfumes, or heavily scented body oils before your appointment, as many clients are sensitive to scent in the treatment space.

Most importantly, just arrive as you are, no special preparation is needed. This is your time to slow down, breathe, and be cared for.

Should I eat before my massage?

Yes, but we recommend eating something light about 1–2 hours before your appointment so your body feels comfortable and relaxed.

What should I wear to my appointment?

Wear whatever feels most comfortable for you. Many clients choose loose, relaxed clothing so they can fully ease into their experience before and after their session. If you’re coming from work or another activity, there’s no need to change beforehand, just arrive as you are and we’ll take care of the rest.

Do I need to shower before my massage?

You don’t necessarily need to shower right before your massage, but we kindly ask that you arrive clean and free of strong fragrances. This helps create a comfortable and neutral space for both you and your therapist, allowing you to fully relax into your session.

Do I need to arrive early?

Yes, arriving 5–10 minutes early is helpful. This gives you time to settle in, complete any intake forms if you haven’t already filled them out, and gently transition into your session feeling calm and unhurried. You’re also welcome to spend a few quiet moments in the relaxation space before your appointment begins. During this time, you may enjoy a light snack or sip on water, juice, warm tea, or wine as you unwind and prepare to fully relax into your experience.

Please note: the doors are locked until 10 minutes prior to your appointment time in respect for clients who are still finishing their sessions and checking out.

What should I expect during my first visit?

Once you arrive, your massage therapist will guide you to the relaxation space where you can begin to unwind before your session. If you have not completed your intake and consent forms beforehand, you will have time to do so in a calm, unhurried setting.

Your massage therapist will then briefly review your intake form and health history with you, along with what brought you in for your session, so your treatment can be fully personalized to your needs. You are always welcome to ask any questions at this time.

Before your session begins, you will also have a chance to use the restroom if needed. Your massage therapist will then step out of the room to allow you privacy. You will undress to your comfort level and settle onto the massage table, covering yourself with the top sheet and blanket. Once you are ready, your therapist will knock before re-entering the room to begin your massage.

When should I avoid getting a massage?

You should avoid receiving a massage if you are feeling sick, coming down with something, or believe you may be getting sick. This helps protect both your body and the wellness of others. It’s also best to reschedule if you have a fever, contagious illness, infection, or are experiencing symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, or severe fatigue.

If you’ve recently had a medical procedure, injury, or any significant health change, please let your massage therapist know so we can guide you on the safest timing for your session.

Your well-being is always the priority, and we’re here to support you in choosing the right time for care.

Communication is key during your massage.

Throughout your massage, your massage therapist will check in with you to ensure the pressure feels comfortable and that you are enjoying your experience. Your comfort is always a priority.

This is your session, and your voice matters. You are encouraged to communicate at any time if you would like more or less pressure.

At Hands of a Healer, we believe open and gentle communication allows you to fully relax and receive the most benefit from your session. We’re here to support you in feeling safe, comfortable, and deeply at ease throughout your entire experience.

Do I have to be fully undressed during my massage?

You should always undress to your level of comfort. For a full-body massage, most guests choose to undress and leave their undergarments on. However, this is completely up to you and what feels best for your body.

If you prefer to remain fully clothed, there are other options that may be a better fit for you, such as chair massage or table-based work techniques that can still support relaxation and muscle relief.

We will always discuss your preferences together to ensure you feel safe, comfortable, and fully at ease throughout your session. Your comfort is the priority, and we are here to help you choose what feels right for you.

Where will my massage take place?

Your massage will take place in a calm, relaxing, low-lit space designed to help your body and mind fully unwind. Soft, soothing music may be played in the background to support your relaxation. You will receive your massage on a professional massage table designed for your comfort and support throughout the entire session. Every detail of the space is intended to help you feel safe, grounded, and at ease.

What do I do during the massage?

This is your time to slow down, breathe, and allow your body to fully unwind. There’s nothing you need to do, just rest and enjoy the experience. We invite you to take this time to decompress within this peaceful, healing space. Thank you for trusting us and allowing us to care for you during your session.

How long will my massage last?

We offer 30, 60, 90, and 120-minute massage sessions. Each session is the full length of time, allowing you to fully relax and receive the complete experience you’ve booked.

A 30-minute session is best for focused work on a specific area. A 60-minute session allows for a full-body massage, while 90 and 120-minute sessions offer a more extended experience with time to focus on deeper areas of tension while still relaxing into a full-body massage.

How will I feel after my massage?

After your massage, you will likely feel deeply relaxed, lighter in your body, and more at ease than when you arrived. You may also notice relief in areas of tension, and sometimes a gentle boost of energy. Your body naturally releases built-up tension during your session, so drinking plenty of water over the next few days is highly encouraged to support your body’s recovery and overall wellness.

If deeper work was done, mild soreness may occur and typically fades within 24–48 hours. If cupping was used, it is normal to see circular marks on the skin afterward. These are temporary and will fade as your body naturally restores circulation in the area.

What are the benefits of massage therapy?

Massage therapy supports both the body and mind by encouraging deep relaxation and helping to reduce stress and fatigue. It can also improve circulation, increase joint flexibility, and help release chronic muscle tension and discomfort, allowing your body to feel more balanced.

What should I do after my massage?

Drink plenty of water, rest if you can, and allow your body time to fully absorb the benefits of your session. You can return to your normal routine afterward, though many clients prefer to take it easy to extend that relaxed feeling.

It’s best to avoid strenuous activity or intense workouts immediately after your massage. Gentle movement such as stretching, restorative yoga, or a warm Dead Sea salt or Epsom salt bath can also help support relaxation and muscle recovery.

How often should I get a massage?

This really depends on your body, your lifestyle, and your personal goals. Some clients benefit most from weekly or bi-weekly sessions, especially if they are working through chronic tension, stress, or muscle recovery. More frequent sessions can help support the body in releasing built-up tightness and maintaining a more balanced, relaxed state.

Others prefer a monthly massage for general maintenance, stress relief, and overall wellness. This is a great option for keeping your body feeling aligned and preventing tension from building up over time.

If you’re unsure, we can always talk through what your body is experiencing and help guide you toward a rhythm that feels supportive and realistic for you.
